Effective date: April 9, 2026  ยท  Last updated: April 9, 2026

Pawrent ("we", "our", or "us") is a cat care app that helps you track tasks, reminders, journal entries, and health information for your cat. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app collects, how it is stored and used, and what choices you have.

By using Pawrent, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. What Data We Collect

Stored locally on your device

Cat Profile

When you create a cat profile, the following information is saved on your device and synced to our cloud database:

Journal Entries

Text entries you write about your cat's health, mood, or daily observations are saved locally on your device and synced to our cloud database.

Reminders & Tasks

Reminder schedules (feeding, medications, vet visits, etc.) and their completion records are stored locally and synced to our cloud database.

Onboarding Status

A flag indicating whether you have completed the initial onboarding flow is stored locally using AsyncStorage. No personal information is included.

Synced to cloud

Anonymous Account (Supabase)

Pawrent does not require you to create an account or provide an email address or password. Instead, we automatically create an anonymous session using Supabase's anonymous authentication. This session is associated with a randomly generated user ID (UUID) that is not linked to any personally identifiable information you provide.

Your cat profile, journal entries, reminders, and task data are stored in our Supabase cloud database under this anonymous user ID so that they can persist if you reinstall the app (in a future version). All database access is protected by Row-Level Security (RLS) policies that prevent any user from accessing another user's data.

Supabase may process data in the United States. For more information, see the Supabase Privacy Policy.

Third-party service

Push Notifications (Expo / Apple / Google)

If you grant notification permission, Pawrent registers your device for push notifications. This requires transmitting your device's push token to Expo's push notification service. The token is used solely to deliver reminders you have configured and is not shared with any other third party.

Push notifications are delivered via Apple Push Notification service (APNs) on iOS and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) on Android. You can withdraw notification permission at any time in your device's Settings.

Third-party service

Analytics (PostHog)

We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics. The events we track are limited to product interactions and do not include any personally identifiable information or the content of your journal entries. Events include:

Users are identified in PostHog by their anonymous Supabase user ID (UUID). PostHog does not receive your cat's name, vet information, journal text, or any other personal content. For more information, see the PostHog Privacy Policy.

Third-party service

Crash Reporting (Sentry)

Pawrent uses Sentry to automatically detect and report app crashes and errors. Sentry may collect:

We do not intentionally send personal information (cat name, journal text, vet details) to Sentry. Crash reports are used only to diagnose and fix software bugs. For more information, see the Sentry Privacy Policy.

4. Data Retention

Data stored locally on your device is retained until you delete the app or clear its data. Data stored in our Supabase cloud database is retained until you request deletion (see Section 6). Anonymous session tokens may expire after a period of inactivity.

5. Children's Privacy

Pawrent is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

6. Your Rights & Data Deletion

Because Pawrent uses anonymous sessions, there is no account to log in to. To request deletion of any data associated with your anonymous user ID, please contact us at the email address below and include a description of the data you would like removed. We will process your request within 30 days.

You can also delete all locally stored data at any time by uninstalling the app.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS) for all network requests and Row-Level Security policies in our database. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at this URL with a new effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
